"Alaska is pounded by one of the most severe winters in decades". Wow I feel so sorry for them because they have to live with that and that will take a lot of work to break all of that.

Good questioning Christina! Our article doesn't tell you this. They get that much snow because they are so cold and they are near the ocean so the weather can pick up lots of water. But, this is crazy amounts of snow for even Alaska.

Was that ice on the picute of the boat? I was predicting it was becasue i saw some of it cracked & some still frozen & not cracked. And there was some snow on it too. So is that ice?

Kelsay, you're right. That is ice. When they talk about "frozen sea lanes" they were talking about the normal places where boats go on the ocean that are frozen with ice.

I guess your right.Prediction- also the cracked ice could be from the boats going around & it might of cracked some where the boats are going and then the rest is just still frozen. Just like if we tryed to walk on ice it would break.

Aaryn, make sure you are checking your writing for capitalization and punctuation. In response to your prediction, they do get snow a lot more of the year than we do. They don't get snow all year though, they have summer, too. Their summer just doesn't get as warm as ours.

"The coastal town of Valdez has seen 318 inches of snow so far this winter." That is alot of snow. They have a huge winter. Sometimes i wish we had some snow but that is way to much. last year when we got that 11 to 12 inch snow me and my brothers built the largest and tallest snowball in mexico. We were even in the newspaper!! hat was so popular it went to my grandmas house in KS, City!!!!!

Connor

well i know it's the coldest in the country and it's either 3rd or 1st coldest in the world because thinking about this makes me remember the world record book and how it said Alaska

"The coastal town of Valdez has seen 318 inches of snow so far this winter" We think that that is to much snow for one state to have. Last year we had almost a foot of snow. We think that the weather down in Valdez, AL is crazy. Also that we hope that we dont ever have that much of snow in our lives.
